IHCL and Ministry of Skill Development Join Forces to Launch India’s Largest Hospitality Training Centre in Goa
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has partnered with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to establish India’s largest hospitality training centre in Goa. This groundbreaking initiative aims to elevate skill development in the tourism sector by providing top-notch training to aspiring hospitality professionals.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in the presence of distinguished guests, including Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Mr. Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, and Mr. S S Gaonkar from the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship. This collaboration is a significant step towards bolstering Goa's position as a premier leisure destination in India.
According to IHCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, the project aligns seamlessly with the company’s Paathya ESG+ framework, reinforcing IHCL’s commitment to creating job opportunities while strengthening the local tourism experience.
The new hospitality training centre will equip candidates with essential skills required in the hospitality industry. The curriculum will cover a wide range of subjects, including front office management, housekeeping techniques, kitchen preparation, and beverage handling. To enhance practical learning, participants will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through industry internships at commercial businesses.
IHCL has been a key player in India’s hospitality landscape for decades. Currently managing 362 hotels across the country and developing 125 more, the company operates renowned hotel brands such as Taj, SeleQtions, Tree of Life, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger. With a legacy of five decades in Goa, IHCL has played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s tourism industry.
The company’s dedication to skill development goes beyond this new centre. IHCL has established skills training facilities at 47 locations across India, further contributing to the advancement of the hospitality sector and the creation of employment opportunities.
