International Law Reforms Proposed to Shield Civilians from Conflict Harms

A human rights organization praised the UAE’s humanitarian efforts during an ongoing session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. In a written statement, the Union Association highlighted the country’s proactive pursuit of peace and alleviating civilians suffering from wars. They applauded relief initiatives providing essentials like food, water, and medicine to vulnerable groups and healthcare in conflict areas worldwide.

The Association also recognized the UAE’s significant role in protecting civilians through various institutions and projects supporting humanitarian endeavors. This dedication positions the nation as a leader in global cooperation to enhance safeguards for non-combatants impacted by violence. The statement expressed appreciation for major initiatives strengthening assistance in war-torn regions, reflecting the country’s values of international partnership and cultural heritage.

Recommendations were made to improve investigations of legal violations during conflicts and coordinate training to uphold international law safeguarding civilians. All UN entities were called upon to prioritize addressing suffering faced specifically by women and children through updated procedures for protection. The delegation praised collective efforts between nations and agencies to ensure humanitarian protection amid armed clashes.
