Ten Israeli Soldiers, Including Two Senior Officers, Killed In Gaza Fighting

 

Amid the conflict between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces, ten Israeli soldiers, including two senior commanders, were killed in heavy fighting in The Gaza Strip.

Nine soldiers were killed in a battle in Shejaiya, a neighborhood district of the city of Gaza. According to Israel Defense Forces, those killed in the battle were Col. Itzhak Ben Basat, 44, head of the Golani Brigade’s commander’s team, Lt. Col. Tomer Grinberg, 35, the commander of the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, Maj. Roei Meldasi, 23, a company commander in the 13th Battalion, Maj. Moshe Avram Bar On, 23, a company commander in the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion, Cpt. Liel Hayo, 22, a platoon commander in the 51st Battalion, and Sgt. Achia Daskal, 19, a soldier in the 51st Battalion. Reportedly, Hamas fighters opened fire on Israeli soldiers.

Israel-Hamas conflict

Israel-Hamas conflict started on 7 October. It caused a humanitarian catastrophe in the region. Violence against women and children had also increased because of the conflict.

On Monday, Israeli soldiers bombed the Gaza Strip after Hamas fighters warned that no Israeli hostages would leave Gaza alive unless their demands for prisoner releases were met.

The attack killed 1200 Israelis and injured several others. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, the Israeli airstrike against Gaza killed at least 17,997 people, mostly women and children.

Various women revealed that they were raped by Hamas fighters during the October 7 attack. A survivor of the Hamas attack said that she saw a woman gang-raped by Hamas fighters. According to witnesses and sources, an Israeli woman was raped and mutilated by several armed men.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, said that Hamas raped various women and girls. Previously, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, said that Hamas militants beheaded 40 babies.
