‘Brutal’: Rohingya Refugees Killed In Bangladesh Camp Shootout

In Bangladesh, a South Asian nation, Rohingya refugees are housed in appalling conditions in camps. Due to ongoing warfare between two insurgent factions in Bangladesh, Rohingya refugees are suffering.

The Rohingya minority, who are predominantly Muslims and are stateless, number about one million and live in Bangladesh. They are not safe in this country of South Asia, though.

The most recent indication of the worsening security in Bangladesh’s crammed aid camps was the shooting deaths of four Rohingya refugees in a conflict between two rebel groups.

The Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh have become a flashpoint between two rebel factions. The fighters’ effects have been felt by Rohingya refugees.

Four Rohingya migrants were slain in the most recent refugee camp gunfire, according to the police. According to local police commander Shamim Hossain, the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) engaged in gunfire on Tuesday night.

“Four Rohingya refugees were killed and two Rohingya were seriously injured,” Shamim Hossain said to AFP.

Thus far this year, fighting across camps in Bangladesh has claimed the lives of over sixty Rohingya refugees. Women and children are included in the number as well.

The ongoing decline in security conditions in camps in Bangladesh has also drawn the attention of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
