Afghanistan Abusive Education Policies: Taliban Schools Failing Boys Too

There is unhappiness in Afghanistan. Boys are also being let down by the Taliban leadership. The people of Afghanistan are still suffering two years after the Taliban took control and require immediate humanitarian aid.

Since seizing control of Afghanistan, the Taliban government has carried out extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, torture, and wrongful imprisonment of individuals. Additionally, they have outlawed women and girls from attending universities and secondary schools. But things aren’t looking good for boys and men either.

A report titled “Afghanistan: Taliban Schools Also Failing Boys” was released by Human Rights Watch (HRW) to draw attention to the predicament of boys attending schools run by the Taliban. Both boys and girls have suffered as a result of the Taliban’s “abusive” educational policy, claims the HRW research.

According to a 19-page HRW report titled “‘Schools are Failing Boys Too’: The Taliban’s Impact on Boys’ Education in Afghanistan,” the Taliban are endangering Afghan boys’ access to an education.

Human Rights Watch’s assistant researcher on women’s rights, Sahar Fetrat, stated that the Taliban are seriously harming both boys’ and girls’ access to an education in Afghanistan.
