For migrants, the path via the Western Balkans into the European Union (EU) has grown risky. Numerous migrants have lost their lives as a result of violent automobile crashes and gun violence. Many undocumented migrants who travel through the Western Balkans to enter the EU have suffered as a result of smugglers’ gunplay. Even with the perilous circumstances, the influx of migrants continues to increase. They deal with a variety of challenges and hardships every day. Migrants frequently face prejudice and hatred. Reports of gun violence have increased in frequency close to the border between Serbia and Hungary, a member of the European Union. At least three Afghan migrants were slain last week in a gunfight between competing groups on the route from the Western Balkans into the EU.

Following the horrific occurrence, multiple persons were apprehended by Serbian police. Police claimed that gangs from Morocco, Afghanistan, and Syria were encouraging violence in the region.

Hungary is the route via which many refugees enter Austria and Slovakia, according to their respective governments. In response to an increase in the number of undocumented immigrants entering the nation, Slovakia also temporarily closed its border with Hungary.
