Michigan suspends employee over Hitler’s image on video boards

After the late German politician Adolf Hitler’s image appeared on the video board at Spartan Stadium, a Michigan State University employee was threatened with firing.

The employee was suspended, according to Alan Haller, the sports director at Michigan State University, because he was involved in permitting Adolf Hitler’s image to be displayed on video boards. “Antisemitism must be denounced,” he declared in a statement on Sunday night. “The image displayed prior to Saturday night’s game is not representative of who we are and the culture we embody,” he continued.

The unnamed employee did not obtain authorization from the authorities to utilize his content as part of a pregame trivia contest on the scoreboard. Just 80 minutes before the start of the game between the rival schools, a staff member displayed a picture of Hitler and the country of his birth, Austria, during the pregame trivia contest.

The video was not a sponsorship, according to Alan Haller, director of athletics at Michigan State University. An involved employee was identified, and they are currently on paid administrative leave.

The incident, he claimed, hurt the Jewish community, “which is currently experiencing a rise in antisemitism, including acts of violence.”

The worker received an immediate suspension.
