Vulnerability and the Fight for LGBT+ Rights in Iraqi Kurdistan

The closure of Rasa Organization, the only human rights organization openly advocating for the rights of the LGBT+ community in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, has left the LGBT+ community feeling more vulnerable than ever. The ruling by a court on May 31, 2023, has dealt a severe blow to the already marginalized community, raising concerns about the state of LGBT+ rights and the overall climate of acceptance in the region.
