Presidency of Migration Management Clarifies Migrant Figures in Turkey, Addresses Overcrowding Concerns

The Presidency of Migration Management, operating under the Ministry of the Interior in Turkey, has provided official figures to counter the proliferation of "baseless comments and figures" circulating on social media. In a statement released via their official Twitter account, the ministry emphasized its commitment to combating illegal migration and ensuring accurate information is disseminated.

According to the Presidency of Migration Management, the current number of migrants in Turkey stands at 4.89 million. By clarifying this figure, the ministry aims to dispel misinformation and provide a reliable source of information on migration within the country.

In response to the challenges posed by overcrowding resulting from migration, the ministry has implemented measures to address the issue. A total of 1,169 neighborhoods across Turkey have been closed to new foreign registrations. This measure is particularly significant in areas where the ratio of foreigners to Turkish citizens exceeds 20%. As part of this effort, 54 neighborhoods in Istanbul are currently closed to new registrations, as confirmed in the ministry's statement.
