China Objects to U.S. Official Uzra Zeya's Meeting with Dalai Lama, Accuses U.S. of Meddling
A recent meeting between U.S. top official on human rights, Uzra Zeya, and the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama, in New Delhi, India, has drawn strong objections from China. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, has once again ignited tensions between the two global powers, with Beijing accusing Washington of meddling in its internal affairs.
China's objection to the meeting stems from its long-standing opposition to any form of interaction between foreign officials and the Dalai Lama. The Chinese government considers the Dalai Lama a separatist and views Tibet as an integral part of its territory. As a result, any engagement with the spiritual leader is seen as interference in China's internal affairs.
