Jin Military Discharge: 7 Times K-pop Sensation BTS Inspired Action on Pressing Global Challenges

K-pop boy band BTS' eldest member Kim Seok-jin has concluded his mandatory military service. His discharge ceremony turned into an emotional event not just for fans but also the star. In videos going viral, Jin could be seen wiping his tears as he prepared to leave the camp.

Other BTS members also attended the ceremony. BTS leader and rapper RM presented Jin a bouquet and performed their Grammy-nominated song 'Dynamite' on the saxophone. Jin then met J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Suga will reportedly meet him later in the day. BTS' agency BigHit Music had requested fans not to gather outside the camp. "Please note that the discharge day is reserved for military personnel only." Jin concluded his training just in time for BTS anniversary. The popular boy band debuted on June 13, 2013.

7 Times BTS Inspired Action on Global Issues

Made up of seven members - RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook - BTS or Bangtan Boys have taken it upon themselves to make the globe a better place to live in. Through their actions, they have inspired their fans to be a part of the change, too.

1. BTS and UNICEF Helping End Violence Against Children

BTS and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) have joined hands together to stage campaigns against violence toward children and teens across the globe. They are asking for our interest and participation in the LOVE MYSELF campaign.

2. BTS Standing Up Against Racism

In the wake of global protests against racial injustice in June 2020, the K-pop stars took action. BTS made a donation of $1 million to Black Lives Matter. In just 24 hours of their donation, BTS fans joined together to match the group's amount, giving another $1 million.

3. BTS Supporting Children's Right to Pursue Education

Since 2016, singer Jimin has made several donations to support education in South Korea, donating money and resources to help students in need of assistance. In 2019, J-Hope donated around $85,000 to provide scholarships.

4. BTS Preventing Children From Going Hungry

The K-pop group has been able to donate money to causes that are in desperate need of resources to save people's lives. BTS' actions have sent ripples across the globe, inspiring their fans - collectively called ARMY - to create lasting change and ease hunger for all.

5. BTS Helping Vulnerable Access Healthcare

The boy band members are huge proponents of helping people have access to lifesaving healthcare, especially those struggling to afford the treatments they need. In honour of his 28th birthday, Suga donated the equivalent of $88,000 to a medical centre.

6. BTS Emphasising Value of COVID Vaccines

The group attended the UN General Assembly in September 2021, as they embarked on their roles as South Korea's presidential special envoys by former leader Moon Jae-in. The boys did their bit to encourage ARMY and people around the world to get vaccinated.

7. BTS Advocates for Urgent Climate Action

In 2019, BTS became global ambassadors of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the street racing series that uses electric cars to highlight air pollution and the future of clean energy. The group has long been inspiring people to take action against climate change.
