Israelis Launch ‘Day of Disruption’ Protests as Knesset Reopens

Tension increases in settled al-Quds. Israeli protesters starts a “Day of Disruption” in opposition to the government. This includes road blockings and rallying near the Parliament building.

According to the report, protesters plans to block main ways, for example Route 1, that has vehicle convoys and can set vehicles on fire, forcing police to arrest 12 individuals.

Palestinian prisoner's family is held by Hamas and Gaza have also started the protests, asking for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's resignation, attacking his failure to agree on the release of the prisoners. They have urged Security Minister Yoav Gallant and others to prevent Netanyahu from making further unilateral decisions regarding the prisoners.

The protests primarily target Netanyahu’s proposed judicial changes, which critics argue would undermine democratic checks and balances by allowing Parliament to overrule Supreme Court decisions and giving the government more control over judge appointments.

Organizers see the “Day of Disruption” important so as to force Netanyahu to stop his judicial changes.
Along with extra pressure from prisoner families, the prime minister now has to face worldwide calls for crucial results or his resignation.

Along with that, an official from Israel denied any involvement in the shocking death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, according to the report died as a result of heart attack in the past weekend, causing disturbance in Tehran.

As the Parliament session starts, focus remains on Netanyahu's reaction to the current public pressure over the legal changes and the prisoner issues. The “Day of Disruption” is expected to bring major disturbance to al-Quds and nearby areas.
