Humanitarian repercussions of Israel-Hamas fighting and Muslim Brotherhood’s increasing influence


The current war between Israel and Hamas, that started on October 7, 2023, has made the Gaza Strip into chaos, badly disordering access to basic needs for Palestinians. The war has relocated around 1.7 million people in Gaza, many of them are now looking refuge in super crowded shelters. The humanitarian problems is worse, with immense damage to homes and hunger by affecting around a million people. The WHO reports CONSIDERABLE malnutrition in children in northern Gaza. Hamas, an Islamist militant group started from the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, that took control of Gaza after the elections of 2006. The group, addressed as a terrorist organization by the US and the EU, has a composite history and an impact by its political and social work. The current war highlights the urgency for a ceasefire, increase in humanitarian aid, and diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful solution.
