Climate Change And Environmental Destruction Affecting Human Rights In Every Country


Human rights are essential for the well-being and improved lifestyle of every individual. Climate and environmental changes are significant for the human rights movement, affecting many people through droughts, water shortages, pollution, desertification, and storms. According to Amnesty International’s 2023 report on human rights, millions faced severe problems last year due to environmental issues.


Libya, that is already in discussion, was badly affected by Storm Daniel, because of which two dams were broke, misplacing some where around 40,000 people and impacting in many fatalities. In Azerbaijan, protesters who were in opposition to a mine waste dam construction nearby their own community were badly repressed by security forces.


Marta Schaaf, Amnesty International’s director of the Climate, Economic, Social Justice, and Corporate Accountability Program, stated that environmental and climate changes are profoundly affecting lives globally, especially those of marginalized people.

The Rohingya community in Myanmar, affected by dispute, affected more because of Cyclone Mocha during May 2023, troubling 3.4 million people.
Same way, countries like Pakistan, Malawi, Rwanda, and France went through disasters related to climate like floods and droughts, majorly impacting poor communities.

The report shows that developed countries must increase climate support to assist developing nations accept to and ease the results of climate change.
Developed countries, that have profited from previous greenhouse gas emissions, must support poorer countries that are now facing the effects.

The report showcases the increased harms for environmental defenders also. Honduras was named as one amongst the most dangerous places for such individuals, along with Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, and El Salvador.
