One Migrant Dead After Boat Carrying 66 People Sinks In English Channel
The boat carrying 66 migrants approaching Britain ran into trouble near the northern French coast, resulting in a sad tragedy in the English Channel, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean separating Southern England from northern France.
It was an inflatable dinghy carrying sixty-six migrants. About five miles off the French coast, close to Grand-Fort Philippe, the boat had problems. One of its inflatable tubes had collapsed, the French coastguard discovered. There were plenty of migrants in the chilly waters of the Channel.
They hauled two persons out of the water. Someone was discovered to be quite sick. The injured person is receiving treatment at Calais, where migrant survivors were transported.
The search is still being conducted.
One of the busiest shipping channels in the world is the English Channel. So far this year, some 29,000 people have used boats to cross the Channel.
When a dinghy capsized in the Channel in 2021, at least 27 migrants lost their lives. Since 2014, more than 200 migrants have perished at sea while attempting to enter the UK. In August, a dinghy sank in the Channel, killing six passengers.
