Medecins Sans Frontieres Shutters Haiti Emergency Clinic After Patient Shot Dead

Medecins Sans Frontieres, often known as Doctors Without Borders in the English language, closed an emergency clinic in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, following the death of a patient by gunshot.

According to a medical charity, on Thursday, armed men forcedfully pulled a wounded patient from an ambulance, beat him, and then shot him dead. Medecins Sans Frontieres withheld the patient’s identify.

“We need a minimum of safety to carry out our medical mission,” stated Benoit Vasseur, the leader of MSF’s Haiti mission, in a statement. “We can’t accept that our ambulances are attacked, and our patients are beaten and killed.”

Following the violent event, the emergency clinic in Haiti’s capital city of Port-au-Prince has been temporarily closed.

Turgeau Emergency Center was the scene of the violent incident. A severely ill patient was tortured by armed men at an MSF ambulance. Then men with guns left the area.

The area’s security and tranquility were impacted by the violent incident. Some of the patients began to worry for their lives. The clinic was compelled to suspend operations as a result of the incident since personnel and patients were not safe.

Its activities will be carried out by other clinics in Port-au-Prince.
