Chicago Mayor Files Lawsuit Against Companies Transporting ‘Rogue Buses’ Of Migrants
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has filed numerous lawsuits against “rogue” bus firms that bring migrants into the city from the southern border.
Brandon Johnson has been bringing numerous lawsuits against organizations that carry migrant busses in the midst of Chicago’s immigration crisis. The Johnson administration sought to halt the movement of migrants.
The lawsuit against what it has called “rogue buses” that carry migrants was filed in response to the surge in new immigrant entries, according to a Chicago Tribune story.
To handle the migrant problem, Republican governors have been sending busses of migrants to sanctuary towns and states controlled by Democrats in recent weeks.
Johnson’s government did, however, bring legal action against individuals responsible for the migrant transit. 77 buses were the subject of the lawsuits, which claimed they had broken the rules. According to public records, at least some of the complaints sought fines against the bus firms.
A representative for the mayor’s office, Cassio Mendoza, criticized the “rogue and uncoordinated” busses. A spokeswoman for the mayor’s office said that the busses were putting migrant lives at danger.
Texas, according to Cassio Mendoza, has disregarded every safety precaution that Chicago has instituted. Chicago “continues to welcome asylum-seekers and migrants but the city cannot efficiently shelter migrants when bus companies, contracted by Texas, flagrantly violate all safety measures that the city has put in place,” according to spokesperson Cassio Mendoza for the mayor’s office.
