56 Brands Sign For Workers' Rights
As part of their commitment to upholding workers’ rights throughout their supply chains, 56 brands have so far ratified the new International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry.
The list of signatories, which now has included companies like H&M, Inditex (Zara), PVH, C&A, and Otto Group, noticeably lacks North American firms.
A new International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment sector was established in November by international trade unions, fashion companies, and retailers, building on 10 years of efforts to make the textile and garment sector safer. The renegotiated contract includes promises for international expansion, fortifies the worker complaint procedure, and guarantees the legally binding Accord’s operations through the end of the decade.
By signing up, brands promise to build programs in other nations and maintain the health and safety initiatives in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
