Rohingya Refugees Detained In Migration Attempt To Indonesia


With the influx of Rohingya migrants arriving in the country by boat, the Republic of Indonesia is facing a new refugee crisis. Rohingya migrants have been traveling by sea from camps in Bangladesh to Indonesia, risking their lives in the process.

Three boats carried about a thousand Rohingya people into Indonesia last week. There were 194 passengers on the second boat, compared to 146 on the first.

The United Nations spokesperson, Mitra Salima Suryono. According to Indonesia’s refugee agency, there are no specific causes for the large number of Rohingya refugees that are coming to the country.

Recently, 58 Rohingya refugees who were attempting to embark on a maritime voyage to Indonesia were apprehended by Bangladeshi police forces.

One million Rohingya refugees live in Bangladesh after the Myanmar military violently suppressed them in 2017. Many Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are facing difficulties. They reside in the Cox’s Bazar border district with Bangladesh.

They suffered mistreatment and had their citizenship denied to them in Myanmar.
