Jewish Students Allege Antisemitism On New York University Campus

Three Jewish students have filed a lawsuit against New York University (NYU), claiming that there is anti-Semitism on campus. On the NYU campus, Jewish students have experienced harassment, intimidation, discrimination, and antisemitic hatred.

Bella Ingber, Sabrina Maslavi, and Saul Tawil, three Jewish students, reported experiencing antisemitism, which is prejudice or hatred directed towards Jews.

They brought a lawsuit against NYU in federal court in Manhattan. They said that on the NYU campus, antisemitism has been a “growing institutional problem.” The students claimed in a federal court complaint filed in Manhattan that they experienced antisemitic prejudice prior to the start of Israel and Hamas’s conflict last month.

In 2021, ngber and Tawil enrolled to NYU. Maslavi enrolled two months ago at NYU. The case claims that they experienced severe antisemitic prejudice, harassment, intimidation, and discrimination on the NYU campus. Since October 7, when Hamas fighters attacked Israel, this issue has gotten worse.

The pupils claimed that their grievances were frequently disregarded. They said that New York University’s 17th president, Linda G. Mills, disregarded the concerns of Jewish students. The Jewish students said that NYU authorities “ignored, slow-walked, or met with gaslighting” their complaints. Antisemitism on college grew as a result of the Israel-Hamas war.

According to reports, 4,000 NYU students petitioned the university’s president concerning antisemitism on campus, but the petition was denied.
