Abortion Rights Defenders Face Unjust Prosecutions: Amnesty International
An international non-governmental organization dedicated to human rights, Amnesty International, has released a report to draw attention to the predicament faced by proponents of abortion rights, especially medical professionals.
After speaking with 48 abortion rights advocates worldwide, Amnesty International published a study on Friday. The organization asked the government to defend advocates for abortion rights in a report.
According to the report, health care providers were subjected to widespread mistreatment and even criminalized for standing up for women’s abortion rights. They also faced stigmatization and unfair trials, as well as growing challenges in their line of work.
Amnesty International claims that because abortion is now illegal in some nations, advocates for women’s rights have been unfairly prosecuted.
Health care professionals and advocates for abortion rights are being targeted, intimidated, shamed, and unfairly prosecuted.
Many healthcare workers, women’s rights activists, advocates, and accompaniers face abuse, arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment for standing up for the rights of women and girls worldwide, according to a report published by Amnesty International under the title An Unstoppable Movement: A global call to recognize and protect those who defend the right to abortion.
Health care professionals and advocates for abortion rights always fear reprisals and legal action.
