31 Premature Babies Evacuated From Al-Shifa Hospital Amid Israel-Hamas War

Thirty-one preterm newborns were evacuated from Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip amid fighting between Israel soldiers and Hamas rebels. Many infants, though, were in grave condition.

The aftermath of the Israel-Hamas conflict is being felt by babies. The anxieties continue for their existence. Numerous infants are in critical condition, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PCRS), the humanitarian organization affiliated with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in the State of Palestine.

The Palestinian Health Ministry’s director general of hospitals, Dr. Muhammad Zaqout, stated to the press, “They were 39.” On Sunday, eight of them were declared dead before help could arrive. For medical care, the infants were moved to the Al-Helal Al-Emirati Maternity Hospital.

Rafah, a city in southern Gaza, is now home to the 31 infants that were evacuated from the Al-Shifa hospital. Very few newborns are accompanied by their parents or other family members, according to the WHO.

The babies’ immediate relatives could not be located by the authorities. At the hospital in Rafah, the babies are battling severe infections right now. Of the thirty-one babies, eleven are in “critical condition.”

The babies’ condition is “rapidly deteriorating,” according to a warning from UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund).
