Uber, Swiggy, Ola, Zomato Workers To Hold Strike On October 25
On October 25, employees from Uber, Swiggy, Ola, and Zomato will go on strike in Pune, a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The president of the Baghtoy Rickshawala Association in Pune, Dr. Keshav Kshirsagar, has announced that cab, rickshaw, and bike drivers will also go on strike.
The delivery people who work for cabs and food delivery services will also participate in the walkout. Pune residents won’t be able to place any food delivery orders or reserve a cab for transportation.
Workers at Uber, Swiggy, Ola, and Zomato are threatening a general strike if their demands are not satisfied. Regarding their salary and safety, they have specific requirements. They have requested that Maharashtra implement the Gig Workers Registration and Welfare Act.
Employees at Uber, Swiggy, Ola, and Zomato claimed that some companies reportedly take advantage of their staff. They demanded that laws be passed to guard against workplace exploitation of employees.
