Migrants' health in Chicago suffer due to lack of health care
Immigrants in Chicago have been suffering because of the city’s inadequate access to healthcare. Chicago has been trying to give immigrants access to quality healthcare as more migrants arrive there.
Chicago has had trouble housing immigrants. Chicago has been assisting more than 15,000 migrants over the past few days. However, as Chicago’s temperature has plummeted, the current health of migrants has gotten worse.
Since August 2022, more than 17,000 immigrants from Latin American and Caribbean nations have arrived in Chicago. The places where migrants have been sleeping include public spaces like streets, parks, and police stations. Their health has been impacted by the scenario.
The migrant’s condition has gotten worse recently. Chicago has seen a rise in precipitation and a decrease in temperature during the last two weeks. The common cold, the flu, and other illnesses have been hurting families who have been sleeping outside, frequently without blankets.
They were unable to see any doctors, according to a migrant woman who informed the reporters, “Almost everyone has a sore throat.” Only children who were gravely ill received medical attention.
