Bihar Government Doubles Compensation for Families of Migrant Workers

In a significant move aimed at acknowledging the sacrifices and contributions of migrant workers, the Bihar government has taken a step forward by increasing compensation for the families of those who tragically lose their lives while working in other states. This initiative not only underscores the importance of recognizing their invaluable contributions but also addresses the pressing need to provide support to their families during times of distress.

On Tuesday, Bihar unveiled new regulations that substantially elevate the compensation offered to the families of migrant workers in the event of their demise while working in other states. The compensation, which was previously set at Rs. 1 lakh, has now been doubled to Rs. 2 lakh. This augmented support acknowledges the significant role these workers play in the nation's labor force and the sacrifices they make to provide for their families.

Bihar, being a state that contributes a substantial portion of the nation's labor force, has been acutely impacted by the migration of its workers to other states in search of employment opportunities. These workers, often leaving behind their homes and families, play an instrumental role in various sectors across the country. However, their endeavors are not without risk, and this increase in compensation demonstrates a commitment to ensuring their families are provided for in times of tragedy.
