The RSS Body Survey, released earlier this year, has sparked controversy and criticism for its claim that homosexuality is a disorder.

 Many medical professionals and LGBTQ+ advocates have pointed out flaws in the survey's methodology and conclusions, arguing that it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and stigmatizes LGBTQ+ individuals.

So, why does the RSS Body Survey claim that homosexuality is a disorder? The survey's authors argue that their findings are based on a sample of 6,000 people across India, which they claim is representative of the entire population. According to the survey, 27.6% of LGBTQ+ individuals reported experiencing mental health problems, compared to 11.7% of heterosexual individuals.

However, critics of the survey have pointed out that it relies heavily on outdated and harmful stereotypes about LGBTQ+ individuals. For example, the survey asks participants about their sexual practices and preferences, which many argue is an invasion of privacy and reinforces the idea that homosexuality is deviant or abnormal.

Furthermore, the survey does not take into account the impact of societal stigma, discrimination, and marginalization on the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ individuals. Studies have consistently shown that LGBTQ+ individuals face higher rates of mental health problems due to these factors, not because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
