Death, Terror, Fear of Losing Home... All in The Air of Sudan's Humanitarian Crisis

The Sudan conflict has caused a massive refugee crisis, with 185 deaths and 1,800 injured. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has not yet received reports of refugees moving to neighbor countries, and the International Rescue Organization (IRI) has suspended operations in Khartoum, Sudan due to the conflict. As long as fighting continues, refugees and people already displaced within Sudan will be at risk. Mwehu works for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and has urged the warring factions to remember their obligation to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian organizations' work. The degradation of human rights in Sudan is getting worse daily, and it is up to the world's governments and international organizations to provide aid quickly and effectively to enable the Sudanese people to recover from this dire situation.

Ultimately though, no one knows exactly how events will play out in Sudan over the coming weeks and months. All we can do is hope that peace returns soon - both for those directly affected by this crisis and for everyone else around them.
